Making the Rancilio Silvia espresso machine silent

The Rancilio Silvia is a great espresso machine but... she is really noisy. The water pump makes a hard loud noise which made it impossible for me to use the machine early mornings and late nights. :-( This video shows how i made my Rancilio Silvia silent. Enjoy!

  1. I got it from a car-tools-gadget store in Sweden called Biltema. Since you write in english it might be a bit far for you to go there... I've seen the same stuff in audio stores but without the foil.

  2. You did an excellent job quieting her down, beautiful workmanship. Where did you get the insulation?

  6. Thanks for the vid, very cool and very quiet. I will do the same with mine after I figure out which PID to get, the preinfushion or just the straight boiler temp control.

  8. Hi
It doesent affect the pump temp. I measured the temp before the mod and it doesent get hot at all.
I.ll try to post a shot without the portafilter in place.

  9. Hi, how does this affect the heat/ cooling of the pump.... are we in danger of burning something out? Also, if you could, could you post a video of the water coming out of the brew head WITHOUT the portafilter? I would like to see how the water comes out. Mine seems to have 2 or 3 streams, but I though it should have more ... like a shower. Thanks either way!
